2005

This July the Breast Cancer 3 Day returns to Seattle. Once again you will find me walking 60 miles in 3 days with thousands of other people dedicated to raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer—all with the goal of eradicating this disease in our lifetime. I would love to have you join us as a member of my team “Kindred Spirits” but if you are not able to join us I hope I can count on your financial support as I undertake this amazing journey once again.

This will be the fifth year I’ve participated in this type of event, and the fifth year that many of you have received a letter similar to this one. Over the past four years your incredible generosity has sent over $15,000 to help fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment for medically underserved families. Every year your kindness and support have simply humbled me.

I’m going to keep it simple this year. I’m not going to remind you yet again of all the reasons that the battle against cancer is so very important to me personally. I won’t bore you with exactly how many hours and how many miles I will be training to prepare for this event or how many people I’ll be talking to about this cause. I’m not even going to go on and on about how much I need your help to reach my fundraising goal of $3000 by June 15th. This year I’m simply going to ask for your help, but not on my behalf. Instead I’m asking for your help on behalf of the estimated one million women that are currently walking around with undiagnosed breast cancer. I’m asking for your help on behalf of the 40,000 women that will hear the diagnosis of breast cancer this year. I’m asking you to help on behalf of the friends and families of those that are currently battling this monster. And most importantly, I’m asking for your help on behalf of our children that should never have to live in fear of this disease - not now, not ever.

Research and support do not happen in a vacuum. It takes real money to continue the search for answers while supporting those in need right now. Please give generously to this cause. You can make your tax deductible donation online at www.the3day.org. Simply click on “Seattle”, then on Donate. Enter my name and follow the directions to pledge online with either your credit or debit card. If you would prefer, you can simply mail a check to me and I’ll take care of the paperwork for you. Whatever method you choose, I hope you will share this incredible journey with me once again. There are literally millions of people out there that need your support. You have the unique opportunity to once again be their hero.

I’m really counting on your support. I’ll be sending out a couple updates along the way, but the best way to track both my training and fundraising progress is to bookmark http://pennys.pledgepage.org and visit it often! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
