Friday I decided to go out to tend Sean's accident site a couple days early this month. With Memorial Day falling exactly on the five month mark I didn't think it would be wise for me to wait until then to go out there. Talk about a strange time warp. I was actually surprised to find that grass had grown up around it. I spent some time clipping it down, cleaning up and decorating for June. While I was working two different dump trucks slowed down and honked. I'm guessing that they drive by all the time and I'm going to take those honks as acknowledgement of Sean's death and my keeping the accident site up each month. Seems strange but it made me feel better.

Friday morning I got the call that Sean's bench was up at Howarth Park so after I went out to Lake Stevens I went to the park to see it and take a rubbing of the plaque. I got out of the car and found a couple about my age snuggled up on the bench. I approached them and (between sobs) thanked them for sitting there and enjoying the bench. The man got up and gave me a big hug and then asked more about Sean. I told them about Sean and how he helped me choose that particular spot for his bench. They both said how much they enjoyed the view from that spot and that they would remember our visit each time they sat there in the future. Lots of tears on my side but I am so glad that they were there when I saw the bench for the first time.

Eagle yesterday. Thank you kiddo. Love you lots.
