Over the last few days a couple of things have happened to remind me why I walk.

¥ A good friend, who happens to be a 4+ year survivor, just gave birth to her second child. I was honored to spend several hours with her and her daughter taking newborn pictures. Thank God for early detection. Without it I would never have had the opportunity to meet this beautiful new little person.

¥ I finally got my email fixed and opened a note from a former co-worker. In it she asked for prayers as she was just diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy last week. She's waiting for her first round of chemo and radiation. She's a single Mom with a young son. She's also my age. She is in my thoughts and prayers.

¥ A note on a message board talking about enjoying the simple pleasure of living reminded me how lucky I am. It was only three short years ago I could barely walk down the hall after my surgeries. How dare I even think about complaining that I hurt after a long walk? I'm lucky to be able to!

Just a few reminders of why I walk...
