What a great day! Six of us walked from Mukilteo into Everett to watch the Welcome Home parade for the USS Lincoln. It was totally cool to watch all the streamers and confetti swirl around the sailors as they walked with their families to the screams and shouts of about 10,000 enthusiastic parade goers. You could just tell how overwhelmed these guys were at their reception. I saw tears in several eyes, and found some in mine when the female sailors walked by pushing strollers with the kids that they had to leave behind. Yikes!

After the parade we stopped into our favorite Mexican restaurant and enjoyed a great lunch while we watched the kids play in the piles of streamers and confetti being blown down the street.

Fourteen (or was it fifteen?) sunny miles later found us back in Mukilteo, planning to meet in the morning for another sixteen miles!
