Got up awful early this morning to catch my flight to San Francisco. I can't believe that Jeff actually gets up at this time every morning!!

Bjorg picked me up in her pretty red car and we headed off to the airport. Our timing couldn't have been better. I walked in and right in front of me were Willy and David! We got our seats, went through security and sat down to wait for our flight. We must have looked a bit excited because the captain asked us what our weekend plans were! I love to see people reactions when they are told that you are excited about walking 40 miles!!

After an uneventful flight we wandered around the SF airport for a bit, finally found both our luggage and the rental car, and headed for the hotel. We were greeted at the hotel front door by AWBC staff. How cool! They even knew my name!!

Registration was a breeze. It only took about 15 minutes to get our credentials and tent assignment A14. We actually hung around awhile talking to other walkers and just people watching. The energy was definitely high!!

It was too warm to do any sightseeing so we made ourselves comfy in the hotel lobby and waited for Dennis and Tath. I knew something had gone horribly wrong when I saw Tath and she was holding an ice pack to her neck. Turns out the car they were riding in was rearended on the way to registration. Not the best way to start our adventure! They quickly registered and then headed off to the hospital to be checked out.

Willy and David headed out to watch a baseball game, Dennis and Tath were on the way to the hospital, so I headed the six blocks down to Chevy's where I had heard that there was a gathering of walkers having dinner. I walked in, introduced myself, and was immediately made welcome. How cool is that? Dinner was great and the margarita even better! I walked back to the hotel with my new friends and waited to hear how Dennis and Tath checked out at the hospital.

Boy was I glad when my cell phone rang and they told me that there was no damage - just lots of sore muscles! Tath was prescribed some muscle relaxers but given the okay to walk.... YEAH!

I had some time before bed so I finally opened the card that Bjorg had given me in the car this morning. Of course it brought me to tears. I'm going to miss her on this walk!

Well, the alarm is set for (gasp) 3:15 so we can catch the 5am shuttle so I'm off to bed!
